Myles Breen ‘A Wilde Fan’ tour is hitting the Belltable on Wednesday, September 22.
The tour began on Friday, September 10, and will end in Wexford on Saturday, October 9 after touring venues all around the country.
A Wilde Fan is a personal and theatrical take on one of history’s greatest artists, written and performed by his biggest fan, acclaimed actor Myles Breen.
Through his plays, poetry, prose and extraordinary life, Oscar Wilde has been a constant source of inspiration and obsession for Myles.
In his solo performance, Myles celebrates the poet, playwright and novelist, recounting the affect Wilde has had on his own work, and indeed his life.
Myles was first introduced to the works of Oscar Wilde during his Leaving Certificate when he studied ‘The Importance of Being Earnest.’ He admits that his love for Wilde has since only grown and considers the title ‘A Wilde Fan’ very fitting.
Featuring excerpts from Wilde’s writings alongside Breen’s trademark wit and flair, ‘A Wilde Fan’ is a personal and theatrical take on one of history’s greatest artists, by his biggest fan.
The play contains excerpts from the 1986 play, ‘The Happy Prince,’ the only other Wilde play Breen has ever acted in and adds a personal touch to the play.
Myles, who was first introduced to the works of Oscar Wilde during his leaving Certificate when he studied ‘The Importance of Being earnest,’ admits that his love for Wilde has only grown farther and considers the title ‘A Wilde Fan’ very fitting.

Myles said, “I’ve been a fan of Oscar since I was a child, I’ve spoken his words and know his story, so I hope the audience has as much fun with my play as I did writing it.”
Reuniting with director Liam O’Brien (Language UnBecoming A Lady / The Bachelor of Kilkish), the award-winning Limerick based company Bottom Dog presents this their 15th production as part of a 5-week nationwide tour.
Originally funded by their sell out 10th anniversary fundraiser ‘Bottom’s Up’ in 2018, Bottom Dog are delighted to return to Belltable with yet another story they are passionate about and share with their hometown audience who helped make it happen.
